Cover-artworks, Movieposters & Videogames
I have started my illustration carreer in the late 80s with airbrush-artworks for the Metal and Hardcore Underground and owe a lot to this scene. Due to the music industry's shift towards non-physical products it's not my main profession anymore. But being a fan myself it's always outstanding to create cover art for bands and labels. Especially if there's also a vinyl-version of the release.
My Dad started to take me to the movie theater in the early 80's for "E.T.", "Star Wars", "Back to the Future" etc. I was so captured by the magic of the silver screen that it kickstarted my heart to create such worlds and characters by myself.
Unfortunately Germany is not the right country for shooting such great movies so I have focused on my illustration carreer. But whenever I have the chance to work on a movie-related job or having some spare time, the 11-year-old boy in his Luke Skywalker costume breaks loose!
EDITORIAL & MUSIC-RELATED
Since CD-sales are on a downward spiral, the bands focus on Merchandising and playing live, Magazines produce Apps (or simply go broke), and labels are just looking for the next "hit record".
I am curious where the music biz is heading to and try my best to contribute the visuals that keep the whole music experience worthy.
Being a SciFi-Nerd and proud of it, the Game Industry has offered some great opportunities for me to create spaceships, battle-vehicles and interstellar warrior characters.
The german Thrashmetal band Kreator is a phenomenon! They gathered worldwide popularity in the 80s and had a huge comeback with their recent releases. I've been a Thrashmetal-kid myself listening to Slayer, Metallica and Kreator so it's been a huge honor for me to be reaponsible for most of their visuals now.
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK
For the german Launch campaign of Netflix's TV-Show "Orange is the new black" I was asked by Kolle Rebbe to add illustrated elements in a tattoo-ish style to the pictures of the Show's main characters.
